call for a national anti-mafia
30 years since the murder of Peppino Impastato thirty years have passed since the assassination of political-mafia Peppino Impastato and 29 from the national demonstration against the we organized mafia Cinisi in the first anniversary of his death.
We can not say that nothing has changed since then, we have achieved important goals through our commitment and the daily struggle that has taken me, my mother, fellow Peppino, Umberto Santino and Anna Puglisi founder of the Center for Documentation of Palermo, Sicily then dedicated to Peppino, followed by part of the left and movements of our history and our struggle.
We faced a long journey of hard work and suffering that has led us also to experience the bitterness and anger when we touch the collusion between politics, institutions and the mafia. The work of memory and the activities conducted in these years were difficult, but certainly not useless, as they helped to develop an anti-Mafia consciousness in the younger generation who have successfully implemented our message.
thinking, ideas of Peppino and his experience as a militant communist who looked at all the facets of reality led him from the bottom up, taking the line of peasant struggles, anticipating the times and accelerating a process of growth and awareness in relation to the danger posed by the Mafia, which had been deliberately overlooked: its was a real struggle of class against a criminal system based on exploitation and oppression.
